“I’m sorry” Olamide cried, “I’m so sorry my baby” he whispered as he stared at the picture in his hands with tears rolling down his cheeks uncontrollably. I wish I was there for you.
If only I had one more chance to make things right, he said shaking his head in regret. He had been staring at Tomi’s picture for the past two hours. He had not stopped blaming himself since he heard the news of her death from his mother-in-law earlier that morning.
Tomi and Olamide were newlyweds, they had only been married for 6 months when Olamide landed a job at an oil company with a 7-figure salary. “I’m so happy for you,” Tomi said jumping on his back when she heard the news. “Finally! you made it” she shouted excitedly as Olamide playfully spun her around on his back.
Little did they know that the job they were celebrating was to bring them sorrow. Olamide’s new boss was Lara, a fine, sophisticated woman in her late 30s. She was the kind of woman any man would die for with her perfect figure, long beautiful hair, natural pink lip and enchanting brown eyes.
Every man in the office would look her way every time she passed by leaving the sweet fragrance of her perfume lingering after her. All of them wanted to date her but none was bold enough to ask her on a date. Perhaps, that could explain why she had been single for so long.
From the first time Lara set her eyes on Olamide, she was attracted to him. She always felt this uncontrollable force of attraction drawing her to him every time he was around. It was so strong that she found it difficult to hide her feelings for him.
She had secretly made up her mind that she was going to make him her own and even the wedding band on his finger
was not enough to stop her.
“Don’t you see the way she looks at you?” Olamide’s co-worker, Seyi had told him the other day. She obviously has feelings for you. Don’t even start, Olamide said cutting him off. “Although the thoughts of such an attractive woman falling for him were beginning to massage his ego.“ I only have eyes for my wife, he said.
I hear you, Mr Faithful husband, you better wake up and smell the coffee. Just because you are on a diet does not mean you can’t look at the menu, Seyi replied. “This conversation is over,” Olamide said, picking up his files from the desk as he walked out of the office.
He was not going to let Seyi’s words sink in. Sure, he had fantasized about what it would be like to sleep with his boss once or twice. Maybe even more but he always replaced those thoughts with fantasies of his lovely wife, Tomi.
That fateful night, he was just leaving the office when his phone rang. “Hello Mr Olamide, it’s me Lara” a female voice sounded from the receiver, kindly stop over at my place today after work to pick up the files for the meeting tomorrow morning. I will be coming to the office late and I want the presentations ready before my arrival.
“But Ma” Olamide interrupted, the company driver should be able to do that. “I would not be calling you if the driver could come, Mr Olamide” she replied sternly. “I want to see you at my place immediately after work,” she said hanging up.
After several hours in traffic, Olamide finally arrived at Valleyview estate where his boss resided. By now it was already nightfall.
“Good evening” he greeted as Lara opened the door letting him in. She was wearing a short black dress barely covering her thighs with a very revealing cleavage. “Hi,” Lara responded with a smirk on her face. It’s good to see you finally came back to your senses.
I was already drafting the sack letter which you would have received first thing tomorrow morning if you had failed to show up here tonight, “Please sit down.” She continued ignoring the disgruntled look on Olamide’s face, “what would you like to drink?” Nothing ma, he said sitting down on the sofa.
Ok then, I’ll go upstairs to get the documents for you,” she said swaying seductively as she climbed up the stairs. “Why would this Jezebel invite me to her house dressed like this?” He thought trying not to panic.
Ten minutes later, she returned to the living room wearing nothing and made her way toward Olamide who was busy reading a magazine he had found lying on the table.
“Oh my God!” he shouted in shock dropping the magazine when he finally looked up, his heart started racing as he immediately headed towards the door.
“Don’t bother trying to escape,” Lara said stopping him “I have waited for this opportunity for a very long time.”
